We continue to work with various European organisation, who provide support for victims of terrorism to gain knowledge, experience and to empower victims to have a voice in Europe and around the world.
Through projects such as VNET 1 and VNET 2 (Network of Victims of Terrorism Associations), we have reviewed many issues related to the rather fragmented services available across Europe. Legislation, compensation, social cohesion, empowerment, different approaches to therapeutic intervention and other important issues have been presented and discussed to enhance learning. The outcome is that we gain from each other and mostly from victims on how best to provide appropriate support, which will enhance their ability to cope.
Aims and content of the project
The main aim of the project is to stimulate trans-national co-operation between associations of victims of terrorism and enhance the representation of victims' interests at European Union level. This should be done through the setting up and running of a stable, focussed and effective network of European associations of victims of terrorism or other non governmental organisations with a special focus on supporting victims of terrorism.
