About bereavement & loss

The death of a loved one can be very traumatic.

Bereavement affects people in many different ways and can cause emotional and behavioural problems that affect your whole life and the lives of others too.

The emotions can be normal feelings to a situation that is not normal, so we have no idea of how to cope.

There's no right or wrong way to feel.

Emotions can be confusing and overwhelming, often like waves in the sea – some smaller and some bigger.

Sometimes feeling like you're losing your sanity and unable to do anything.

Grief might at times feel chaotic and out of control.

The GOV.UK website has information on what to do after someone dies, such as registering the death and planning a funeral.

Brent Council can provide information on registering a death and financial support following a death
